I've got an excellent W. Aus. 2004 Shiraz to go with that, it's big and robust with plenty of black fruitiness to cope

Now Pud is a choice of caramelised apfelstrudel
or a fresh raspberry trifle both with whipped cream

I have a riesling icewine or would a muscat Beaumes de Venise or a sauterns go better?

I like the idea of the icewine with the strudel. Quady vineyards makes an orange muscat that's quite delicious. They also make a black muscat that is awesome with chocolate. If in doubt, a sparkling muscat would be perfect. I am a former wine consultant who loves and appreciates all types of wine and spirits, however, I have served some amazing dessert wines over the years that went un-appreciated. If your guests think that icewine is just a sweet wine and don't understand why its so expensive then go with the sparkling muscat.
