Know What Comprise Greeting Cards
Greeting cards are simple documents that contain text, images, and messages. Greeting cards are folded pieces of paper that have different variations. Generally, a greeting card is folded on either the top or the side. The front of the card has an image or text, while the back is black. The inside spread, which is usually half-used, contains the message. Here are the different parts of a greeting card.
1. Front
The cover of a greeting card may have a photo, a text, or the combination of both. As this is the first part that a receiver sees upon opening the envelope, the front should immediately grab attention. Moreover, it should set the tone for the card. On the front of the greeting card, one can easily surmise whether the content is funny, romantic, or serious.
2. Message
The message is located on the inside page of the greeting card. Some greeting cards have blank messages. You have to create your own message. There are other greeting cards that have short messages, such as "Happy Birthday!" or "Season's Greetings!" Some greeting cards contain quotations, Bible verses, or poems. Messages may be accompanied by images and other design elements.
The message usually appears on the right of an open card that is folded on the side. On the other hand, a card folded on the top has the inside message located on the bottom. There are greeting cards that are printed on letter-sized paper, resulting to a quarter-fold. These folds are additional panels where one can add more messages and texts. There are also greeting cards that resemble small booklets. In that way, one can share a story or a lengthy message.
3. Back
Finally, the back contains the logo of the greeting card company, contact information, as well as copyright notice. If you make your own greeting cards though, you may want to include your personal logo, name, as well as date in which you made the card. Some greeting card makers leave the back of the card blank though.
Aside from the front, message, and back parts, there are other components of a greeting card. These are optional parts, however. When making your own cards for special occasions, you can incorporate any of these additional parts. These are the following:

where can i donate unused greeting cards?
I am looking for a charity that I can send unused greeting cards to (birthday,get well,thinking of you,thanks, cards that are blank inside and anniversary). I am looking for a place that will use them not sell them to other people.thanks

Either a nursing home or a senior center. Those on a fixed income could SURE use the ability to save the $2.50 on a card.
I used to donate all my paperback books to our local senior center... I would read 4 or 5 books a week and they were elated when I'd walk in every few months with a box full of books. With the economic downturn I've been using the library rather than buying new books
