A good way of preserving special moments is through scrapbooking. It is the process of not merely collecting photographs, but also arranging them attractively through embellishments, journaling, and the likes. Because of the popularity of making scrapbooks, there are so many types you’ll see in the malls such as an animal printed scrapbook, a leather scrapbook, and so on. You can, however, make your own scrapbook to save money, as well as spend your time on a hobby that you can find enjoyable.

The following are the common supplies you’ll need for scrapbooking:

• Scissors

You may opt for plain scissors, craft scissors, or even pinking shears to add to the design of your cut photos and background materials. Remember that cutting is a process that you can never live without when making a scrapbook, whether it is a leather scrapbook or a plain scrapbook that you are making so good quality scissors are essential.

• Cardstocks or Patterned Papers

Backgrounds are also important in scrapbooking, thus, there is a need for cardstocks that may either be plain, acid-free, or even textured. Patterned papers, on the other hand, are those kinds of papers that are printed, thus, spicing up the backgrounds on your leather scrapbook.

• Adhesives

To be able to ensure that your photos and background papers will stick well to your scrapbook pages, adhesives like liquid glue, glue-tapes, etc. are requirements. There’s even glue that’s acid-free for frequent or sensitive scrap bookers.

• Pen

The captions and titles on your leather scrapbook should also be fade proof; hence, a fade-proof pen is needed. There are also acid-free and even waterproof pens available in most stores that specialize in scrapbooking.

• Album

The object where you will house your photos, photo mats, etc. will be your scrapbook album. The said album is usually comprised of protective covering that can last for a number of years that can shield your photos and memories from molds, water spills, and so on.

• Adornments or Embellishments

What makes scrapbooking fun is the fact that you can unleash your creativity by adding some embellishments to the pages of your album. Suggested adornments are ribbons, sequins, buttons, and a lot more. These embellishments make your collection of photos more special and more thrilling to look at.

Other important details that complete your leather scrapbook include the title of each scrapbook page that serve as the summary of the kind of photos found in your scrapbook that gives the viewers an idea of the topic e.g. photo occasion, and the journal entry which gives a brief explanation of the photo story. Bear in mind that the scrapbook page title need not always be at the top, but can be positioned anywhere for as long as it becomes an eye-catcher to whoever is viewing your album. Your journal entries, on the other hand, can be not solely dates or places, but also poems and quotations that suit the photos. By keeping all these information in mind, you can get started on making your scrapbook which can prove how valuable your memories are.

anyone know if dollartree or dollar general has cheap scrapbooking paper or cardstock paper?

They don't, but they do have some nice scrapbooking stickers. They also have stencils and funky scissors, and once in a while even have the scrap books. I found some cheap paper at Marshalls about a month ago. Not the individual papers though, the books of papers.
