Basic Grey Precision File Set-- Simplifying personalized raw chipboard
A great way to add dimension to any scrapbooking page is to incorporate personalized chipboard.One of the best features of chipboard is that your options are virtually endless as chipboard can be used to form alphabets, frames or more.What's also great is that you can personalize your chipboard by using your choice of paper or paint, so that it matches your layout perfectly.
One of the challenges with using chipboard and paper is making the paper look like it's an actual part of the chipboard.The last thing you want is for it to appear that you've glued the paper on or have wrinkles, crooked edges or a messy looking final product.The perfect solution for this problem is the Basic Grey Precision File.. The tool kit is inexpensive, compact and easy to use.The kit comes with six files: 2 flat boards, a round file, a half-round, one square file and a knife file. The different sizes permit you to match the file that best fits into the little corners and grooves of the chipboard.
To start, select your raw chipboard and paper that you want cover onto it.
Select a liquid or gel adhesive (like Zigs 2-way glue) and apply evenly over the entire chipboard surface.
Lightly press the paper on top of the chipboard, smoothing out wrinkles and bubbles, and allow it to dry according to the adhesive supplier's instructions.Cut the paper out around the chipboard.You want to follow the shape of the chipboard as closely as possible, but it's okay for the paper to hang over the piece.You can use scissors or a knife to cut the paper, but we recommend a swivel knife. It allows you to cut around corners easier and more accurately than a pair of scissors or a regular X- acto knife can.
Use the files to shave off the excess paper.The round, half-round and square files are terrific for corners, such as the inside of a capital "A" or in the corners of the letter "k".
For a nice touch, you might consider inking the edges.The Basic Grey Precision File set can help with creating distressed paper, paint or photos. For added comfort and convenience, each precision file comes with a rubber comfort grip.

Scrapbooking question....cutting holes for binding in chipboard covers..?
I want to buy these chipboard scrapbook covers but I do not think that they come with the holes in them. What kind of tool do you use to put the holes in? Would a regular circle hole punch work? And then I believe you put grommets on the holes for a finished look, how do you do that? And lastly, what is a good place to get these tools for a low price? I have never made a book from scratch before lol!
If you are using a thicker chipboard, and plan on making more of these, then I would recommend that you invest in a Crop-A-Dile tool.
