I was fascinated by a friend about scrapbooking when she show me her scrapbook during our meeting at her home. It's so nice and great...I really fall with it and wanted to do the same as hers...I was searching many places, scrapbooking stores, craft stores for ideas and design, layout etc... also found some wonderful free download at many scrapbooking web sites...thanks to those generous people who are willing to share... This is really nice hobby because my children growing up fast that I cannot stop to continue keep the wonderful moment with them!

I have done many creations and found sometime it cost me a boom with this hobby...Thus, I was searching and finding, have done some of my own research on how to instantly create a scrapbooking without spending too much, or if possible zero dollar spend to buy those quality papers and fanciful decorations...Personally I love painting and drawing using color pencil, watercolor, poster color, acrylic etc I find it's really fun to draw everything...that give me an idea of drawing my own design. During this self scrapbook and creation journey, I found some useful tips that I can share with everyone who is beginner, or cost saver person.

Guide #1 Plan your story board

Ensure you have planned your story board before you begin. For example, if you want to scrapbook on topic related to family outing, arrange the event or have an itinerary for it.

Guide #2 Simplify your design

Use simple decoration, add on when necessary. Don't over crowd your design with too many fancy decorations. This may cause your design looks messy, viewer not able to identify your scrapbook main topics.

Guide #3 Don't over spend on unnecessary items.

Look for free design or sample layout gallery. Look at what others does, and learn from those who you think they are good.

Guide #4 Join Scrapbooking forum or community

Try to find a suitable community and become a member of them. There, you can share your ideas, your problem, event can get good solution from experts.

Guide #5 Your every scrapbooking piece is valuable scrap experience

Always keep this in mind, your every piece of design is great scrapbooking experience for you to learn. Try to create as many scrap as possible, practice make perfect!

Share your scrapbooking art works with friends thru your blog. This will motivate yourself to improve further. If you know of someone who is expert in scrapbooking, lead them to view your scrapbooking designed blog.

Buy a good quality digital camera to capture quality images. This will help your scrapbook images look nice and presentable! Capture as many angle, snapshots as many images to allow you to choose good picture for your design

Scrapbook Supply organization question?

Last Christmas, I got this really big scrapbook quit. By really big, I mean it has like 10,000 pieces. Most of those pieces are die-cuts. They are all on these big 12X12 sheets. I scrapbook quite a lot, but I almost never use those die-cuts because it's such a hassle to go through all the 12X12 sheets (there are A LOT!), especially since my 3-drawer 'organization system' is 12.2X12.2.
So, how do you think I should organize them?
I've got a bazillion letter die-cuts, and then themed stuff. Water/ocean, friends, months of the year, love, etc. etc.
So should I put all the 'A's together, all the 'B's, etc.?? Or...??
And for the themed stuff; by colour, theme, ????

Aahhhh!! Please help!

phew! 10,000 pieces - no wonder it's unmanageable
here are some suggestions off the top of my head :
- if the letter die-cuts are separate [ i mean, letters only on each sheet] then, it is definitely easier to group them in alphabetical order.
- if the letters form words, even then it's easier for them to be placed alphabetically

- for themed sheets you may need to do cross-categorization. this is how you do it : make a list of colors. make another list of themes. these are your reference lists.
then, sort by color but within each color, place them in the order of the themes OR
sort by themes & follow the color list within this whichever you find more convenient.
be sure to stick to the order listed in the ref. sheets in both cases. now you will know exactly where to find what you need.

- you can do the same cross-categorization for letters & colors too. just make a list of colors. place all the 'A's together but following the color chart, and so on.
