I think I'm on the right path but I keep getting either and else without if error could somebody help me out and give me some kind of template for nested if Else Statements with like 6 or 7 conditions.

It sounds like you want switch/case -- it's just a fancy form of a sequential if/else complex. Here's a trivial example (absolutely unsophisticated):

As you can see, the switch/case construct is more readable. Of course, you might not be "allowed" to use it yet (if you haven't been "taught" it).
