What genre of books did you like as a child?
I absolutely loved fantasy, little faries and gnomes and mermaids and magical princesses with long flowing hair locked in towers guarded by a dragon and Prince Charming comes a saves her and they all live happily ever after. I still do.

I have to agree. The genre of books I liked, and still like, are the fantasy books. Some of my childhood favorites included The Fairy Rebel and The Black Unicorn.
One thing that has definitely changed as I've grown is my thoughts on the gender roles in these stories though. One thing that always bothered me about my favorite movie, The Princess Bride, is that when Buttercup and Westley are in the Fire Swam, Buttercup doesn't do anything to help out when the ROUS is attacking Westley. I've come to appreciate the all-too-rare heroine that doesn't simply wait for her knight in shining armor, but works to make her own situation better.
But I still love the "traditional" stories... and I think I always will.
