Need some rubber stamping advice and tips?
I've only been doing rubber stamping and embossing a few months so I needs some help. I've mainly been using stamp/ink pads, but I wanted to use more than one color on a stamp, so I bought some ink markers from Hobby Lobby (over by the stamps, so I know I bought the right thing). But my problem came in when I colored part of the stamp, then went to color the other part, I didn't take very long, but by the time that I colored the second part and pressed the stamp down, the second part showed up really dark, but the first part was considerably lighter--it looked faded in comparison to the parts that were done later.
How can I avoid this in the future? Is there a trick? Or is it that I need a different brand of pens that doesn't start to dry so quickly?
Any other tips/techniques would be helpful too, I'm just getting into it so I just about anything would be helpful!
One tip I've seen (and used) when using two different colors on a stamp, is to do what you're doing, but right before you use the stamp, bring the stamp up to your face, and breath on the stamp, kind of like the huff and puff of the big bag wolf. The moisture from your breath is enough to reactivate the stamp ink, but not enough to water it down. I learned this from Dee Gruenig on the Carol Duvall show, and it really does work! I tried to find a video showing how to do it, but wasn't able to.
