How do I get the boston terrier to accept the new kitten ??

My daughter brought home a kitten last week. This is new territory but since we have plenty of room I am willing to give it a try. The problem is that we have 4 dogs - golden retriever (12 yrs), choc lab (3 yrs), boston terrier (5 yrs) and english mastiff (7 mos). The golden retriever is an outside only dog and since she hates cats I don't see that relationship going anywhere. The lab is indoor/outdoor and undecided about cats. I decided to start with the mastiff and the boston since they are indoors. The kitten has "her room " and today I figured it was time to see what would happen. I started with the mastiff since he is mellow (although harder to hold) - it hurt his feelings when she hissed at him so he sat by the door and pouted - a good start! Then I brought boston in - he keeps going into "terrier" mode (brain function stops) and goes after her. I can't tell if he would really hurt her or if he is just really excited. Any suggestions?

okay.. look I have had many dogs and cat and had to get them acquainted.. I'm a Trainer.. take time to sit in with the dog pet him get it settled down then get your daughter to bring the kitten and slowly tuck him to your arm..you said the cat was hard to Handel.. keep the head away dint let her see the dog.. stroke the cat then pet the dogs head.. give sweet signals while doing so tell her good boy... then slowly turn the cat around..this will take a while ... place her on the floor the dog should not bark unless the cat profusely hisses if you want to see if he will hurt the cat it will show then.. usually terriers are curious and play-full .....
