What is a Norton Clipper?

Norton Clipper is the brand name of a line of motor operated concrete and masonry related construction machinery that's based out of Luxembourg. Their mostly cutters and saws are well recognized for their high level of quality and the fact that virtually all of them use diamond blades and drill bits.

Norton Clipper is also the developer of “Norton Silencio”. A new patented sound dampening technology that finally helps to solve this problem that always has been the bane of concrete, masonry and tile cutting machines and tools. So just what does the Norton Clipper line consist of?

The Norton Clipper (CM501 Major) standing masonry saw is their latest upgraded version of their EDW saw. It retains all of the functions and features, overall level of performance and quality that made their renowned EDW the #1 best selling masonry saw of this type on the market. Not only is this unit a pleasure to use but it is in itself, a fine work of mechanical engineering to behold.

With its 500mm/ 20” blade protected by a smooth flowing easy action guard, it cuts both large and small stock quickly and accurately. Also with a maximum available cutting depth of 195mm, it tends to be the “alpha cutter” on any job site it's put into service on. It features a built in water pump for wet cutting, easy winding handle head adjuster and sturdy and reliable “stay-level” blade guard.

Norton Clipper also has an “extra heavy duty” block saw on rollers that's available in three blade sizes, with the maximum being a 1,000 mm blade. It’s designed to be mobile so it can be moved to the stock rather than the other way around. The Clipper Jumbo 900 415V Block saw is a true workhorse that features all side mounted controls to keep the top surface work area free and clear. This unit is also available in two other sizes. 650mm and 900mm blade capacities.

Norton Clipper also manufactures a series of rolling floor saws. One is diesel powered and two are powered by gasoline. Their C71 model runs off of gasoline and is a compact, cost efficient saw that can cut both asphalt and concrete. Its 16” blade cuts to a depth of 144mm or 5.5”, which makes it more than adequate for floor and road work.

The Norton Clipper C99 is their diesel model. Its 450mm blade cuts to a depth of 166mm but there is one unique feature that makes this rolling saw special. That is that it can fitted with two 350mm blades spaced 20mm apart and then be used for cutting expansion joints or channels for laying low voltage wires or tubing in floors. Their C99 415 is simply a gasoline powered version of the C99.

Norton Clipper also manufactures a MTA36 power cement finishing float that has a few features that stand. Folding handles, fall control for the pitch blade and hydraulic raise are three of them. With a machine like this, one man can do the finishing work of ten in half the time. It's perfect for larger commercial sized jobs.

Norton Clipper also has a nice selection of premium quality hand held cement working power tools as well. Their electric hand held SC180 Wall Chaser cement and masonry cutter comes in both 110 and 220 volts. They also produce some nice hand held, heavy duty cement drills, such as their D10 A Core drill that's powered by 110 volts and their MBN 180 all purpose light hand cement drill ran on 110 volts.

Will .PNGs with alpha display correctly on a webpage?

I want a tiling background with a shadow overlay. I don't know where the shadow will wind up (fluid layout) so I can't bake them into the background.

Can I use a .PNG with an alpha channel?

If the browser supports it, yes. IE is really the only one that has issues with it these days, though I've heard they've fixed it in IE8. I haven't tested it out myself, yet, though.
